The first Share: Flitwick and Ampthill Xmas Xchange is on Saturday 29th November from 10am to 12noon.
What’s a Xmas Xchange?
It’s like a plant and seed swap but for Christmas decorations!
If you’re wanting a change from your red and green baubles but don’t want to just throw them away, if you’re worrying about the cost of setting up your home for Christmas this year, or if you’d like a change without adding to waste and carbon emissions, the Share: Flitwick and Ampthill Xmas Xchange is for you!
Share:F&A will be accepting donations of good quality, safety compliant Christmas decorations, smaller artificial trees, and indoor and outdoor lights – of a standard that you would be happy with in your own home. Bring them to the Share: F&A Library of Things at the back of the Rufus Centre, Flitwick, on 22nd November 10-12 or to the Stocksfield Room next to the Community Fridge on 29th of November from 9.30am and by 11am.
Anyone coming to the event can take what they would like for their home this Christmas – so it might be a swap, or just providing a good new home for preloved decorations,. Our aim is to have nothing left at the end.
When and Where?
The Xmas Xchange will be in the Stocksfield Room at the back of the Rufus Centre next to the Community Fridge between 10 and 12 on the morning of Saturday 29th November. The Rufus Centre address is: The Rufus Centre, Steppingley Road, Flitwick, Beds MK45 1AH
Like to swap or donate?
We will be accepting donations at the Share Library session on Saturday 22nd November from 10am to 12 noon and from 9.30 am and up to 11am on the 29th November at the Stocksfield Room. We can’t accept items that aren’t of a standard to be reused and will check donations before accepting.
Like to choose some pre-loved decorations?
We will be open for you in the Stocksfield Room to select from the donated items between 10am and 12 noon on Saturday 29th November.
Christmas Lights
Any Christmas Lights or electrical items that are donated will be PAT checked and tested to make sure they are safe and working. If you would like to have any light sets checked for your own use you can bring them along to the Xmas Xchange.
If the items are unsafe, you must dispose of them yourself.
Christmas Trees
Share: F&A will accept artificial Christmas trees, in excellent condition, up to 5ft/150cm. We can accept trees with integral lights but will only put these into the Xchange following testing and PAT check.
Any items we can’t swap will be donated to local organisations.
Let’s enjoy sharing and reducing waste this Christmas!
